Gobble Gobble

Last year was the first year that I made place cards for our Thanksgiving table. I made these pumpkins for each person. They took me quite awhile to finish them even with help. I was thinking that we would just reuse them this year since the end of November was quite busy but of course I just had to add more to my plate. :o)

November Add-On Sketch

Two weeks ago it was an add-on sketch over at Sketch Support. The sketch is of a leaf but I was having a hard time figuring out how to use it. I guess my mom suggested that I turn it into a turkey feather though somehow I didn't hear her. A few minutes later I thought it would make the perfect turkey feather.

I ended up making ten of these turkeys. I actually finished them just minutes before we sat down to eat our Thanksgiving meal. I used black letter stickers to add names to the fronts of the turkeys. They turned out quite cute! I've been told that I need to make either pilgrims or Indians for next year. We shall see.

The King & Us

It is two-page sketch week at Sketch Support. And my layout just went up yesterday and I'm already blogging about it! Yay! ;)

November Two-Page Sketch

I had so much fun with this sketch. I have a feeling this will be one that I will use again and again. That is if I find the time. One thing I love about this sketch is how you can use so many different patterns on it. Trying to figure out which patterns I should use and which ones should be next to each other took me forever! I'm so slow. (To see the layout in more detail just click on the photo.)

These pictures were taken in 2009 when Kari and I went to see New In Town for the second time. We loved it so much and wanted to share it with our moms and so we went a second time. This statue of Elvis can be found in front of the Battle Ground movie theater. I'm always looking for photo opportunities and who wouldn't want to pose with the King of Rock & Roll. :)

Halloween

I am so thankful that I was not sick this past Halloween. I started showing signs of coming down with a cold and boy did I start praying hard! I was looking forward to the weekend and I didn't want anything getting in the way of our fun plans.

In a previous post I mentioned that Tom and I keep Halloween pretty simple. In the past we carved our pumpkin, ate a Papa Murphy's Jack-o-Lantern pizza and had root beer floats. We don't get your typical trick-or-treaters because we are in an apartment. Though the past two years my friend Meagan did come trick-or-treating but I had to leave her goodies by the front door since I was sick. I was determined that this year was going to be different!

The Headless Horseman

Sunday night Tom and I were invited to join some friends to go searching for the Headless Horseman. We first watched Disney's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". I hadn't seen it in years and it turns out that Tom had never seen it. Tom was surprised that it didn't have your typical Disney ending. The movie set the stage for our visit to a covered bridge. :)

I don't have any pictures to share of our adventure in search of the Headless Horseman. It is hard to capture anything when it is pitch black outside. We started at one end of the bridge and then made our way across on foot hoping to make it to the other side before the Headless Horseman caught up with us. It was so much fun! Tom was great at chasing Whitney, Meagan and I down. We just barely made it! ;)

I have to say that this is the best Halloween tradition ever! I hope that wherever Tom and I end up living that there is a covered bridge nearby. There is nothing like running around in the dark and imagining what could be out there hunting you down. Letting out a few screams is a must.

Watch Out for the Boogeyman!

The boogeyman paid us a visit Halloween night. Just look at that mask! Love it! Meagan loves Halloween. :) I always try to put something fun together for her when she comes trick-or-treating. Whitney came with her and so that made the visit even more special. Love them both!

I couldn't pass up the oportunity to get my picture with the boogeyman now could I? I told Meagan she should pretend to get me but instead she just put her arms around me. I figured she wanted to take a nice friendly picture first. WRONG! Just when I looked at the camera Meagan totally caught me off guard and scared me. I think I lost a couple of years off my life. ;)

Halloween Traditions

The rest of our Halloween night we stuck with our traditions of carving our pumpkin, eating our pizza and enjoying some root beer floats. We also watched National Treasure. Yeah it isn't quite a Halloween movie but it was as close as we could get besides Lord of the Rings.

My Sister, My Friend

When my family moved from California to Washington I had to make a tough decision. Did I want my own room that was tiny or to share the big room with the wonderful bay window? I hadn't had my own room for very long and I wasn't sure if I wanted to give that up, but I also fell in love with the big room with the high ceiling and huge bay window.

Little did I know then what an important decision that was. I opted for sharing the big room with my youngest sister Brittany. We are seven years apart in age. I don't remember ever regretting my decision. Over the seven years that we shared a room we forged a bond that I believe can withstand anything. Even my getting married. ;)

Brittany is my sister, my friend, my confidant, my music guru, my angel, my reading buddy, my hero, and my shinning star. I honestly can't imagine life without her. I can think of countless experiences where she was there for me like no one else could be.

I went through three hard years in a row. By the end of those three years I was worn out and ready to give up. Literally. I remember laying in bed next to her (the big room was her own room now and I was home from college for a short time) wishing that God would send me an angel to help me find the desire to move forward in life. All of a sudden it hit me that He had already sent me the perfect angel and she was right next to me.

Happy Birthday Brittany!

Sisters

Love you more than a million stars in the sky!

Happy Birthday

Last week was two-page week on Sketch Support. I would have blogged about it sooner but I was without the internet for a few days. I survived but boy was it annoying. :)

October One-Page Sketch

I really love this sketch! I seem to have a weakness for banners lately. They are so much fun! My take on this sketch was also part of a product challenge. I was sent a group of scrapbook supplies that I was challenged to use. Here is my take:

These pictures are from Tom's last birthday. I love trying to capture photos of someone blowing out their candles. I'm pretty happy with how these photos turned out. Tom's birthday is just around the corner. It will be nice to have him be just as old as I am. ;)
